New MXit Version 3 (beta)

mxit startup screen

A new version of MXit is out…

It’s called V3 or Version 3. And can be found at www.mxit.co.za/beta

It’s still in beta development stages, and major new features are still to be added!

Here is the changelog (what’s new):

Version 3.0 differs from 2.4 in a number of ways and was needed to prepare MXit for the next wave of innovations we have been working on.

The following are a brief synopsis of some of the new features and changes. (Please note this list is not complete)

1. Several code optimizations were done that would yield faster response times on a large number of phones.

2. Several bugs were fix (and unfortunetly some new ones were introduced Embarassed . We humbly apologises for that and will fix them asap)

3. The Connecting and Logon phases were redesigned and are two separated phases now that will clearly indicates to a user where a signon problem lies. If it fails during the connecting phase, the problem is network related (GPRS or 3G). If it fails during Logon phase, it is a MXit server problem.

4. More emoticons were added.

5. Graphics capabilities were added and will go live soon. Will tell more about this as soon as servers are ready.

6. Form capabilities were added which will allow users to easily complete structured questions etc. New services that will employ these capabilities will be launched in the future. Will tell more about this soon.

7. Changes were made to allow easier code migrations between V3 and the Generic Version of MXit which will be released soon. These changes will also allow for easier and faster conversions to new phones.

8. Groups capabilities were added that allow users to place contacts into groups.

Enjoy…..

    def says:

It could have been your network’s GPRS that was down.
Or the mxit server is down at the time.
Or the url could have been spelt wrong.
    Try and try again 🙂

Depends: Is it on the PC or on the phone?

Remember, sometimes it can just be the networks GPRS that is down/not working…

    Good luck!

Hey there! i’m an old Mxit member since tha beginning. – struggle to get mxit loaded on my
new phone (samsung Z540). If i hav 2 chat, i hav 2 go back 2 my old Smsung D500 Version3. I tried vodacom & mtn sim cards & older versions V2,4 – it don’t wanna work, says:

    Hay there!

On wap.mxit.co.za, there is a help section. It says this about the Samsung Z540 :

Make sure you have downloaded the correct MXit version
from the following MXit website http://www.mxit.co.za/wap
We do not provide support for any other versions

    Get correct GPRS settings:
    MTN : Dial *123*13#
    Vodacom : Dial *111# (Option 4 or 5)
CellC : Send an SMS containing SMARTDATA to 084 155 9911 (Costs R2.00)
When prompted to make the settings the default, select Yes

From your phone, go to http://www.mxit.co.za/wap

Once you have downloaded MXit, Return to the phones’ stand-by screen.

Turn your phone off and then back on.

Go to Menu – Games – More – MXit – Options
    1. Phone Call – activate per access
    2. Network Access – per session
    3. Messaging – always connect
    4. Local Connectivity – per access

If you still have connection problems try this:
Go to Settings – Network Services – Network Selection – Select MANUAL
(Scans Network – Selet your Network Provider)
RSA Vodacom, RSA MTN, RSA Cell C, etc
Go to Settings – Network Services – Band Selection – Select GSM 900 or 1800

Turn your phone off and back on.

    Good luck!

Let me know if you get it to work on your new mobile!
