New MXit Version 5 Download on PC

UPDATE: Click here – — !!! New Run MXit V5 on PC !!! — for instructions!

The easiest way is to go to www.mxit.co.za/wap/ on your computer and proceed to download. It should tell you “Load v5.0 for Nokia-6270″
When you click Normal at the end of all the questions it will give a .jad file to save.
Save this .jad file to your computer, then
open that .jad file in MPowerPlayer!
This always works!

You will have to do this everytime you want to run MXit Ver. 5 on your computer

If you don’t want to download MXit everytime you want to Run MXit v5 then follow these instructions:
Yes, the .jar file linked to in the .jad expires after a while. So you need to save it on your computer because it expires on the server.

Here’s howto:

  1. Open the .jad file in Notepad,
  2. then download the file specified in it next to “MIDlet-Jar-URL: ”
(Copy paste that URL into your internet browser; for example: http://ww2.mxit.co.za/wap/client/source/4195495727f67.jar)
  3. Then, change the “MIDlet-Jar-URL: ” line in notepad to just have the XXXXXX.jar part in it. (for example “MIDlet-Jar-URL: 4195495727f67.jar”.
  4. Then have the .jar you downloaded and the .jad in the same directory, and open the .jad file in MPowerPlayer.

There we go :)

OR, If you are desperate to use any MXit, you can still use the old MXit V3.0 .jar!
Download this MXit jar (or this MXit jar) to your computer and open it with MPowerPlayer!
OR
MXit V3 – MPowerPlayer Quick Start Link
MXit V3 – MPowerPlayer Quick Start Link – Slower.

————————-
You can change your number on MXit 5 via MPowerPlayer by doing the following:

* Download MXit from www.mxit.co.za/wap from your PC. (You will save a .jad file to your computer)

* Open the .jad file with Notepad.

* Change this line:
MIDlet-1: MXit,/icon.png,MXit
to something like:
MIDlet-1: MXitDEF,/icon.png,MXit
which makes MPowerPlayer think it is a new program and won’t remember your login number.

* Save the .jad file.

Open the .jad in MPowerPlayer (File->Open).

.
You will have to do this change everytime you want to use that number you associated with MXitDEF. Beause the .jar link in the .jad expires after a while.

————————-

Once again, DEF is on the forefront of MXit on PC :)
Bringing you the newest information first!

OK, MXit version 5 has just been released! (September 2006)

And it’s hectic!

Changelog OR What’s new in v5

The main new features in version5 are:

  • File sharing
  • Picture Messaging
  • Change status
  • List of smileys
  • Conversation Saving

MXit Version 5.x for PC

The official MXit for PC client isn’t available yet.
So, in the meantime, to take advantage of all the cool features you have to use an emulator for MXit on your computer.

OK, things have changed slightly since the last version of MXit when it comes to running it on MPowerPlayer.

1) Download these two files:

Save them in the same place on your computer.

2) Open the .jad file in MPowerPlayer

And off you go, MXit 5 for computer!

    def says:

    Hay!

Well, I can’t tell exactly what is wrong with your MXit download (what is the error message or behaviour?), but just make sure you have tried the following:

    1) Ensure you have downloaded the correct MXit version
from the following MXit website http://www.mxit.co.za/wap
We do not provide support for any other versions.

    2) Get correct GPRS settings:
    MTN : Dial *123*13#
    Vodacom : Dial *111# (Option 4 or 5)
CellC : Send an SMS containing SMARTDATA to 084 155 9911 (Costs R2.00)

When prompted to make the settings the default, select Yes

From your phone, go to http://www.mxit.co.za/wap

    and download MXit for free!

    Good luck!

Hay, Your MXit contacts won’t just dissapear :) I promise!
It’s probably that you are logging in to MXit with a DIFFERENT number! Your contacts are stored on the MXit server, and you have to login with the same number to get the same contacts back!

In MXit, go to Menu->Settings->Profile to see the number you are logged in with. It should be the same as the one you added your contacts to.

Type this into Start->Run (In Windows)

In the jad file you will see a line starting with ‘c: ‘. This is an unique code generated by the MXit wap site. The first time you log in with the unique code your MXit id (i.e. your cell phone number) is stored with the unique code on MXit’s servers. After that only that MXit id can be used with that unique code. That’s why if you want to use another number you have to download another jad file.

BTW: you can download the jar file mentiond in the jad file and keep it locally (and change the reference in the jad file). That way you don’t have to re-download it each time you want to use MXit.

BTWBTW: my mxit jabber transport is undergoing alpha testing, and looks to be working fine. So the chances of being able to use MXit from any jabber account in the near future are good.

Well, then the number you were using before probably wasn’t right. So your old contacts are on some number you registered with that you don’t know now. Did you ever receive an invitation on your old login? Probably not! Because the people who added you, added your real number, which is why you are getting the invites on your new number.

Here is what I did to get Mxit on Pc without it downloading the app each time I want to use it.

You will need the Opera browser.

-Go to http://www.mxit.co.za/wap and download a mxit of your choice*.
*I recommend downloading mxit for Sony Ericsson P910i because you can click on the screen in mpowerplayer since the P910i have a touch screen.

-When asked choose the normal version.

A small .jad file should download now.

    Open Notepad

Drag the .jad file into Notepad.

You will now see a line of text with the path to the MXit .jar file. In my case this was:
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://ww2.mxit.co.za/wap/client/source/61914818278cc.jar

Copy the URL and past it in a browser app. This should download the file. Now just open the .jar file with mpowerplayer.

This will get you the newest version of Mxit currently availible.

Nope, not possible, only if you have an emulator that supports filesystem access! MPowerPlayer doesn’t yet!

Hi , something is wrong when i try to use v.5 , the first 2 times i open it, it works, bat then it gves me an load error saying: ‘ Could not load file’ and then a long email adress!

Yes, the .jar file linked to in the .jad expires after a while. So you need to save it on your computer because it expires on the server.

    What you can do is:
    1) Open the .jad file in Notepad,
    2) then download the file specified in it next to “MIDlet-Jar-URL: ”
(Copy paste that URL into your internet browser; for example: http://ww2.mxit.co.za/wap/client/source/4195495727f67.jar)
    3) Then, change the “MIDlet-Jar-URL: ” line in notepad to just have the XXXXXX.jar part in it. (for example “MIDlet-Jar-URL: 4195495727f67.jar”.
    4) Then have the .jar you downloaded and the .jad in the same directory, and open the .jad file in MPowerPlayer.

    There we go :)

    def ZA says:
The most likely cause is an incorrect PIN
Yes, the pin is wrong, or it has been changed on your cellphone! So now the PC one is still using the old pin.

Send an SMS from the phone that is the number you are trying to login with if you forgot your PIN.
    OR
If you can’t enter a new pin in MPowerPlayer, you will have to use a different .jad file.

Do i need to put in 0027 or +27 or just put in the number without country code??
    thanx alot!

    —————–

Well, to add someone on MXit to your contacts you need to know their login number. So it’s usually in the form e.g. 2782xxxxxxx, else try 082xxxxxx for example for South Africans.
Even if they use MXit on the computer on MPowerPlayer, you need to know what they logged in with. They can tell you their MXit login number by going to Options->Profile in MXit, wherever they are using MXit.

Check out mxit.defza.com for more info.

Using mxit on your computer does not need airtime or anything special. No GPRS program needed. GPRS kinda means like ADSL or DIAL-UP on the computer.

You just need to have a computer that can connect to the internet. (And it mustn’t be blocked e.g. at work)

The Mac instructions are pretty much exactly the same, because Mac has Java which is the same on all PCs!

Mxit is great! and nobody can blame Mxit if their relationships go wrong
because the fault then lies by you. Were you so boring that your spouse
had to go on Mxit? or was your love-life not great now they get better over Mxit? Redirect yourself. Trust me, i know what im talking about!

Hey! Im from South Africa but living in Canada.. and i forgot my mxit password and wanna log on! and my Vodacom simcard doesnt work here :(

How do i get my password ??!! :(

    PLEASE HELP! lol :) x
    ————————————————
Hay! Did you delete MXit? Because then your save password on the phone is gone and you gotta remember it! If you didn’t it should still open up if it’s on your phone! Try to get your vodacom simcard activated there with International Roaming from Vodacom! Email them or check out vodacom4me.co.za – then when it’s active you could try send your password forgot SMS! Or you have to send your SIM card to someone in SA and ask them to request your pin via SMS!
